To the editor

Job Shadow Day was held on February 6, 2008. There were over 70 seniors and 60 job mentors that met and had breakfast served at Hilltop Steakhouse to begin this day. After breakfast, the students had the opportunity to observe and participate in their careers of interest.

A special thank you to The Saugus Business Education Collaborative for their generous support in funding this year’s Shadow Day Program. Thank you to The Saugus Business Partnership and The Chamber of Commerce for recruiting members to be mentors. All participating seniors and I wish to thank their mentors for without them this activity would not be possible.

Looking forward to working with all of you again in planning for Job Shadow Day 2009!

Very truly yours,
Laurie Golan, Shadow Day Coordinator

To the Editor,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who helped make the February 5, 2008 Presidential Primary Election run as smoothly as it did. The success of the election is a great reflection of the cooperation, determination, and hard work of many employees of the Town of Saugus, as well as the hospitality of the schools and private facilities, allowing us to graciously use their buildings as polling locations.

I would be amiss if I didn’t acknowledge my appreciation for the hard work and integrity of the dedicated poll workers who always work so hard on behalf of all of us.

My gratitude goes out to the Board of Registrars, Chairman, Gary Butt, Daniel Berg and Jennifer Smith, who consistently and professionally assist in the process of running successful elections.

Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank my great staff, Election Coordinator Patricia Flickinger and Assistant Town Clerk, Marianne Moses. In order to appreciate how much work goes into running a successful election, you must understand how many endless hours of arduous work my staff goes through to make it all possible.

Without Patti, Marianne, and many other dedicated Town of Saugus employees, the accomplishments and the success of the very important task of running elections for the voters of Saugus would not be possible. Once again, my heart felt thanks to all.

Sincerely, Joanne D. Rappa, Town Clerk

To the editor:

The Saugus High Hockey team would like to thank John Smolinsky of the Saugus Federal Credit union and Kasabuski Rink Manager John Hatch and staff for a great hockey tournament. The effort you put into this tournament does not go unnoticed. The attention to detail makes every young man on his respective hockey team feel special. The Saugus Federal Credit Union Holiday Classic is by far the best-run high school tournament in the state.

Congratulations on another successful tournament.

Thank you,
Coach Chris Connors, Coach Jeff Mitchell, Coach Mike Stewart, Coach Matt Terrio
