There are those moments in life when a single occurrence makes a whole community proud. One such occurred happened just last week when the Saugus Pop Warner A Squad Cheerleaders preformed at the National Championship in Disney World. While it is noteworthy that the Team was the North Shore, Eastern Mass and New England Champions and placed second in the entire Nation by a single point, it is the community spirit and pride of the Team that was noticed by many in Florida. Over 100 Teams from around the country compete in all the divisions combined and all the Teams walk around with their Town’s name on their back. No Team in the entire competition represented their community in a more positive way then Saugus. 20 Cheerleaders, coaches, Team Mom’s and Directors showed tremendous enthusiasm, pride and spirit during the week and it was noticed by many. People from Iowa, Texas, New Jersey and every State commented that the Saugus Team cared as much about the other teams as they did themselves. While some would have dwelled on missing first place by a single point the Saugus Cheerleaders looked and acted like the champions they are and continued their time in Disney enjoying the weather and parks. Each member of the team did Saugus proud with their accomplishments and their strong sense of community in representing Saugus in front of the entire country, for that they are all truly SomeONE Special.
