Father John Mulloy, a man of God, a man of the people, “Someone Special in Saugus.”
Father Mulloy personifies a member of the clergy who goes beyond being the pastor of a single church, in his case the Blessed Sacrament Church. Because of him the word ecumenical has become the norm in Saugus. Years ago Protestants would never think of attending a Catholic church and Catholics would never visit a Protestant church. There was a definite separation of religions. Because of people such as Father Mulloy this no longer exists. He is a person who promotes the common worship among all religions. Several times a year ecumenical services are held with people of all religions coming together to worship. In a recent article he wrote for a local newspaper Father Mulloy talks of the new churches that have joined our community with the inference that it doesn’t matter how one worships as long as they do worship and believe in God and work together to do good things. Father Mulloy is “Someone Special” who has brought the people of our Town of Saugus closer together for a common good
