If Webster’s Dictionary published the name Ron Barresi its definition would say, “hard working, unending dedication to others, never quitting and putting all others above yourself.” For decades, Ron Barresi has looked out for the town in his position at the DPW and the youth of Saugus in many ways, most notably with Saugus Babe Ruth. Many say Saugus would not have a Babe Ruth program if it were not for Ronny and that may well be true. Ronny spent countless hours with the program over the years and was thrilled to be honored at World Series Park with his lovely wife. He has been active in many organizations including the Saugus Boosters Club where he brought energy, spirit and care for the kids.

This past year, Ronny retired from the Saugus Department of Public Works after decades. Working in the hot summer days and cold winter nights, Ronny was never one to complain as he took a personal interest in all that he did. His peers would often cite his example when asked how they withstood a long cold night of repairing a water break or plowing. Ronny is a friend to all because of his warm heart, care for others and dedication to Saugus.

In addition to his dedication and hard work for Saugus, Ronny and his wife raised a great family that no doubt learned much from a man who has done so much for so many. “I am proud and honored to call Ronny a friend and to have been one of many who learned from his example. His is the embodiment of Saugus Community Spirit and we have all benefited from his care for others and what he has given. Because of Ronny, Saugus is a better place, for that and so many reasons Ronny is SomeONE Special,” said Mike Kelleher.
